Banner Images

Depending on what your browser supports, you may or may not realize all the interesting things about the banner graphics running on this site. Of course, you may have recognized them as small selection of photos I took during my time in New Zealand. Better than having ads up there!

At any rate, I discovered a great bit of javascript called FlashObject, and it allows you to easily replace the content in a <div> tag with a Flash applet if the user has the correct version of Flash (and of course they need to have javascript enabled). The best part of the FlashObject script is that it renders W3C compliant code!

With that said, one of two things will happen when someone comes to this page:

- Does not have javascript/flash: Will get served a random image from a folder of banners using php

- Supports javascript/flash: Gets a nice Flash applet with plays the images as a slideshow with a nice transition.
